Speaking in a recent interview with Heat magazine, Reese, who is also an executive producer on the show, shared how the final episode of season one led to viewers discussing the treatment of women in society.

The star said: ‘We had no idea there was going to be that kind of public response to this show, that it was going to converge with this moment of women – sensing their need to be leaders, and step up and talk about their experiences with strength and with encouragement.

She continued: ‘And I do think that is part of the reason that we felt like a second season was not just a great experience for us to get back [together], but to talk about “now what”, you know?’

Adding on how the cast drew on their life experiences when bringing the characters to life, the Hollywood star said: ‘We’ve talked about trauma, we’ve experienced trauma, we see each other’s trauma, but how do we cope with it?

‘And how do we go on and how do we carry on? So, that was a big theme that we explored in season two.’

Reese, who is pals with her fellow cast members Meryl, Nicole Kidman, 51, Zoe Kravitz, 30, Laura Dern, 52, and Shailene Woodley, 27, revealed the group often get together to wind down with a glass of wine after filming.
