SeaChange premiere date: Channel Nine confirms return of classic drama

SeaChange is back! Nine confirms premiere date for reboot of the classic TV drama starring Sigrid Thornton – and fans won’t have to wait long

Channel Nine’s reboot of SeaChange will premiere on Tuesday, August 6, at 8.45pm.

Two decades after the show last aired on ABC, viewers will return to Pearl Bay as  Laura Gibson (Sigrid Thornton) tries to piece together her life after years living overseas.

In addition to Sigrid’s character making a comeback, John Howard reprises his role as Bob Jelly, who has just been released from prison for fraud.

Kerry Armstrong returns as Bob’s estranged wife Heather and Kevin Harrington reprises his role as Kevin Findlay, who runs the caravan park.

New cast members include Brooke Satchwell as Miranda Gibson, Laura’s oldest child, and Dan Wyllie as Ben Russo, the new owner of a local pub.

Darren McMullen, Katrina Milosevic, Kate Lister, Ella Newton and Alex Tarrant also join the star-studded cast.

Sigrid previously said of the SeaChange reboot: ‘I’m absolutely thrilled to be returning to Pearl Bay. 

‘Time has passed and the world has changed, so as we revisit this rich and strange place I trust we’ll all delight in the chance to explore how far we’ve come and how far we still have to go. I can hardly wait.’ 

Andy Ryan, Channel Nine’s co-Head of Drama, added: ‘Two decades after SeaChange changed the face of Australian drama, Pearl Bay is still a hotbed of romance, mateship and community spirit.

SeaChange originally aired on the ABC for 39 episodes between 1998 and 2000. 

SeaChange will premiere on Tuesday, August 6, at 8.45pm on Channel Nine
