Shakira reveals she’s gone ‘more than a month without seeing her sons’ while she’s working: ‘It’s very hard’

She recently completed a 55-date world tour – while her long-term FC Barcelona player partner, Gerard Piqué, 32, and sons Milan, six, and Sasha, four, have stayed at home in Spain.

And Shakira has now revealed that there are times were she’s been forced to go over a month without seeing her young sons and long-term partner.

However, 42-year-old singer explained to Viva magazine this month that they are constantly FaceTiming each other.

‘Sometimes it´s very hard when you can not see your sons for a month or even more,’ she expressed according to Hola!

‘It is so hard. But we call each other via FaceTime, so we are in constant communication, that helps.’

The Hips Don’t Lie singer continued to speak about her very private family life and how they balance it all.

‘We don’t have a written deal to share the tasks or anything like that, but we both are very involved in parenting and try to sort it out the best we can,’ she said.

‘We support each other and we also find a huge help in our families. We don’t know a different way to do it!’

Gerard and Shakira first met in the spring of 2010 when he appeared in her music video for her song, Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) – the official 2010 FIFA World Cup song.

In 2013, the pair welcomed their eldest son, Milan, with Sasha being born two years and one-week later.

As for the happy couple, who will celebrate their 10th anniversary in 2020, they’re both born on February 2 – just a decade apart.

Shakira opened up to Elle in 2013 about how she had lost her faith before meeting Gerard.

‘I think, if you can prove the existence of God, it can only be proven through love,’ she began, adding, ‘I even had lost my faith for a while. I was becoming as agnostic.’

‘And it was really hard, because I was always very religious, and for a few years, maybe because—it sounds so corny—I was not feeling the love like it was supposed to be, I started to think that there was no God. And suddenly I meet Gerard and the sun comes out.’
