Why my child CHOOSES to be vegan: Teresa Palmer reveals the traumatic experience at Whole Foods that made her son, five, follow a plant-based diet

Australian actress Teresa Palmer is known for promoting a healthy lifestyle.

The 33-year-old actress had been a pescatarian for years, but it wasn’t until a recent grocery trip that she made a radical change to her diet.

Teresa revealed on Thursday that both she and her son Bodhi, five, decided to go vegan after they saw fish on display at a Whole Foods Market in Los Angeles.

Teresa explained that her son was emotionally scarred by the shopping trip and decided afterwards he would follow a plant-based diet.

‘He didn’t understand why they weren’t swimming in the ocean and why someone would purposely catch the fish for people to eat,’ she told OK! magazine.

The Hacksaw Ridge star revealed that her son’s ‘compassion and kindness’ also inspired her to adopt a more humane approach to food.

She is especially concerned that his dietary restrictions will make him feel left out at children’s birthday parties where there may not be vegan options.

Teresa added that she would be completely supportive of Bodhi if he ever wanted to start eating meat or dairy again.

‘However, he is such a sensitive and considered soul that I don’t think that will happen anytime soon,’ she said.

The Warm Bodies star welcomed her third child with husband Mark Webber, a daughter named Poet Lake, on April 12.

The couple, who married in 2013, have two older children, sons Bodhi and Forest Sage, two. She is also a stepmother to Mark’s 11-year-old son Isaac from a previous relationship.

The Adelaide-born actress told Jones magazine earlier this year that her priorities had changed since becoming a wife and mother.

‘I have certainly taken a backseat in terms of meeting my own needs since becoming a mama, as there are so many other people I’m taking care of,’ she said at the time.

Teresa added that she and Mark ‘always try to carve out “he and I” time’ when their children are at school or taking part in extra-curricular activities.
