The Block’s master bedroom reveals: Mitch and Mark come out on top

The Block’s Master Bedroom week came to an end during Sunday’s episode.

And the reveals left judges Neale Whitaker, Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer speechless, with duo Mitch Edwards and Mark McKie coming out on top.

‘This is the most exciting twist I have ever seen when judging The Block,’ declared Shaynna when walking into their controversial design.

Whereas the other couples followed the standard architectural plan, Mitch and Mark decided to swap a master bedroom for an entertainment space instead.

‘We feel like our buyer is after luxury, entertainment and living and the number of bedrooms isn’t important to them,’ said Mark.

Instead, they transformed the top level of their penthouse with a large lounge space, small kitchen and en-suite bathroom.

‘This is not a bedroom, wow,’ exclaimed Shaynna, before praising the stylish couple’s ‘elegance and class’ throughout the space, which earned them 27 points.

However, with just a wall separating their entertainment space from Tess Cattana and Luke Struber’s master bedroom next door, their plan proved controversial.

The judges questioned if this was done intentionally, in a bid to get ahead in the competition and lower the value of the neighboring property.

‘We’re going over our floor plans now and working out a plan to f*** over Mark and Mitch over now,’ joked Luke afterwards.

Mel and Jesse Raeburn’s efforts failed to cause much excitement.

Despite the judges enjoying the space, Neale said: ‘This room feels like it’s ticking boxes, and yes, I’ve seen it before.’

Shaynna was also stunned to discover a chair and desk in the corner.

‘I don’t want to see a desk in my main bedroom! I want to see a dressing table. I come to my bedroom to get away from work,’ she said.

The judges were also unimpressed with the floor in their walk-in wardrobe, giving them a grand total of 22 points.

El’ise Bothe and Matt Bothe were praised for their efforts, and managed to come second with 26 points.

Despite the fashion manager and carpenter from Perth initially concerned by their lack of cash throughout the week, they stunned the judges.

‘Oh, wow. That is quite a ceiling,’ said Darren, while gushing over the textured design and stylish chandelier.

Neale said: ‘I think they really understand the meaning of home, and the emotion of what that means’.
