‘Do I look like ‘an unwanted stepchild’?’ Lisa Wilkinson SLAMS ‘ridiculous’ reports she ‘fled the country’ due to problems at Channel Ten
Reports emerged last week alleging that Lisa Wilkinson felt like an ‘unwanted stepchild’ on the set of The Project, and that she had ‘fled the country’ to holiday in Italy due to tensions at Channel 10.
But on Sunday, The Project’s Lisa Wilkinson took to Instagram to reveal that there is not a grain of truth to the controversial reports.
The 59-year-old shared a snap of herself posing for a smiley selfie taken during her recent European getaway, alongside a caption that read in part: ‘The pic above is one Pete [FitzSimons] took of me on holidays just a week ago. Do I look like someone ‘fleeing’ anything?’

‘Do I look like I feel like ‘an unwanted stepchild’ as this story so ridiculously described me (with apologies to all the beautiful stepchildren out there)?’
Lisa said that she chose to lash out at this story in particular because she wanted to nip it in the bud.
‘I’m old enough and been in this business long enough to take the hits,’ she wrote, adding: ‘but I figure if I don’t call this BS right now, this story will go on under a bunch of different headings for months to come.’
Hitting out: According to reports, The TV host (pictured) was ‘mortified’ and felt like ‘an unwanted stepchild’ after being slighted during the show’s 10th anniversary
She went on to say that her holiday was actually booked six months ago, and that she would be back on the set of The Project on Sunday.
Earlier this week, Woman’s Day magazine reported that Lisa, the show’s highest paid host on The Project, is at the centre of discord on the Channel Ten program.
Sources claimed that things reached boiling point during The Project’s recent 10th anniversary special, which saw Lisa leave early due to feeling slighted.

During the broadcast, the former Today co-host was apparently ‘mortified’ and felt like an ‘unwanted stepchild’.
She had supposedly left ‘in a huff’ half an hour into the 90-minute show and refused to attend the after-party because a remark by co-host Peter Helliar upset her.
Peter had said, ‘We love having you on our show,’ which reportedly made Lisa feel like an outsider on the panel.

‘Lisa is highly sensitive regarding her public profile,’ an insider told Woman’s Day of the incident.
‘While she tries to keep relationships civil off camera, she is furious that her co-hosts are allowing nasty barbs to continue on air.’
The fallout of Peter’s throwaway comment was first reported by The Australian Media Diary last Monday.
According to the newspaper, Lisa quietly ‘shuffled off set’ after just 30 minutes.
