She’s the up-and-coming pop superstar who is behind behemoth hits such as Ocean Eyes and Bellyache. 

However, US singer, Billie Eilish, 17, has admitted being called pop music’s new ‘It’ girl actually ‘irks’ her. 

The teenage pop star told Vogue Australia’s July edition, the constant acknowledgement of her rising celebrity status is ‘annoying’.

‘As grateful as I am for the appreciation and the love, honestly, I’ve become numb to it,’ the Los Angeles-based songstress told the publication. 

‘I remember the first couple of times people called me the face of pop or pop’s new ‘It’ girl or whatever the f**k… it kind of irked me,’ Billie added.   

Just last month, Billie revealed she isn’t always a fan of the free products she is gifted due to her rising fame.

Appearing as a guest on 2Day FM’s Grant, Ed and Ash Show in May, the Ocean Eyes singer spoke about being sent dozen of shoes per week by fashion brands.

In what would be a teenager’s dream, she confessed: ‘Thing is I get like twelve pairs of shoes a week.’

Explaining that while it might sound cool, she bemoaned that the footwear was not always to her taste or unique style.

‘And a lot of them are f**king ugly,’ she said frankly. ‘Honestly, half of it is amazing and I love it. But half I’m like sheesh.’ 

A global sensation, Billie has managed to hit more than one billion streams on Spotify and is regarded as an up-and-coming superstar.        

Billie has achieved international fame with her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, released on March 29.

She has spent weeks at the top of the ARIA charts, along with landing in Spotify’s global top 50 list.
