‘It’s a tricky thing realising the world doesn’t revolve around you – that’s been hard,’ he said.

Mark starred on the popular Australian series when it was at its best, alongside co-stars Chris Hemsworth, Isabel Lucas and Sharni Vinson.

After leaving Home and Away, he landed a role in TV series Underbelly: The Golden Mile in 2010, and Australian film A Heartbeat Away in 2011.

He then left for the US, but failed to make a name for himself in Hollywood.

‘I haven’t worked over here anywhere near as much as I’d have liked to,’ Mark told New Idea.

While his career Stateside did not go as planned, Mark’s personal life has gone from strength to strength.

Having formed rock band Shotgun Alley in New Zealand, it was there that he met his now-wife, model Laural Barrett.

In December last year, Mark posted a heartfelt tribute to Laural on her 32nd birthday.

‘Love’s a hard thing to adequately put into words. The thought of growing old with her by my side warms my heart. What a blessing I have received,’ he wrote.
